Fr. Carvajal came to America with his family from Venezuela in 1998, and was ordained into the priesthood on June 28, 2019. Father credits many priests as being very influential in directing him in his vocation, but gives his mother the most credit, saying she has always been a devout Catholic and made sure the family was at Mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation. She gave him a solid education, rooted in the faith. He says his parents frequently welcomed priests and seminarians into their home for meals and this also presented opportunities to think about the priesthood.

Father finds the Psalms to be inspiring, especially Psalm 42. This Psalm is a constant reminder, as is the passage in Augustine’s Confessions, that our souls will find rest only in the Lord.

He has a special devotion to St. Joseph and to St. Damien of Molokai, both saintly men whom he feels speak to all men today. He likes to pray rosaries and litanies regularly and he especially likes to find novenas to pray with friends and family.

Fr. Carvajal strives to live out his calling as a priest to the fullest while leading families to live out their own vocations to holiness.
