Time Talent and Treasure

As generous distributors of God’s manifold grace, put your gifts at the service of one another, each of you in the measure you have received.                ~1 Peter 4:10

The above passage captures the “Spirituality of Stewardship,” whether it be the stewardship of time, talent, or treasure – or all three.  Each of us has been given some measure of blessing, some measure of giftedness, to contribute to the Common Good.  Elsewhere in scripture, it’s expressed this way by Jesus in the gospels:  The gift you have received, give as a gift (Matthew 10:8).  And musically, we reflect this attitude in a number of the songs we sing at Mass.  “Servant Song”, in particular, begins with the words:

What do you want of me, Lord?

How do you want me to serve you?

Please prayerfully consider these words of encouragement, and may they indeed encourage each one of us to gratefully consider

  • the gifts we’ve been given
  • the measure in which we’ve been blessed for the good of others
  • some way or ways in which we can give back to God for all the good He has done for us

A parishioner of St. Pius X Church once said, “When I am able to do something for someone else, it’s more of a blessing for me than it is for them.”  Likewise, your generous distribution of the gifts you have received from the Lord will be a blessing for many, and perhaps most surprisingly, a blessing for yourself – when you are reminded just how much you receive, more than you give.

Contact the church office at 918-622-4488 to find out ways you can give of your time, talent and treasure.

Thank you for giving back, in the measure you have received.
